Healthy Sleep Ideas

By Jeremy Milton

How many things in this world are more annoying than those restless nights where you simply can't fall asleep, no matter how hard you try? I've faced plenty of those nights and I dread the feeling.

Many people struggle to fall asleep at night, even when their bodies are absolutely exhausted due to the fact that their difficulty falling asleep is a regular occurrence. I've dealt with this during periods of my life, and it's driven me crazy at times.

The good news is that there are some ways to work through this. They'll require a commitment and a willingness to believe that they work, but they won't cost you much money and may definitely be of help.

There's always the medicinal route. There are both over the counter solutions and prescription medications. In either case, you should definitely consult a doctor about this before deciding to take this approach.

Here's a trick that I often use in times of need, whenever I can remember to at least. I'll simply pick up a book and read it from bed. I do this with the intention of reading as much as my body will allow me to.

I won't just read any book, but I'll read the most uninteresting book possible, or at least one that's mostly factual in content. In doing this, my mind won't be as stimulated as it might be by an exciting story.

The key to the reading technique is the fact that your mind will be focused on the book, and not the fact that you can't fall asleep. This leads directly into my last piece of advice.

As long as your mind is not focused on the fact that you're still awake and struggling to sleep at night, your chances of falling asleep will be infinitely higher. Try this strategy out and you may be pleased with the results. - 31521
