I am Motivated Because I am Free

By Shawn Doyle

We live in a free society, so it's kind of funny to even talk about freedom. We have it, while many others just don't.

We are often not free even though we live in and are citizens of a free society.

There are many people I meet who are unhappy but do nothing in their apathy. They moan and complain and grit their teeth because they aren't free. They dont get that they already have freedom of choice. They could end the realtionship or get counseling. But the do nothing, nada, and they become slaves to themselves but they dont understand that. Freedom is such a short distance away.

I know people who hate their work and going to work everyday. They could change but they fear doing so. Maybe they think the next job will be worse. If they choose to, they could change their work and even their career. They could change everything the next day but dont.

I have met many people who put up with abuse and mistreatment by familiy and so called loved ones. For years and years they will allow it not thinking they can do much better. They don realize that it is their life and they do have a choice.

I know dozens of people who choose to accept their circumstances because of their past, present, or future, and are stuck in a rut. They dont know they are in a rut but they clearly are.

Please I beg you to realize that we have the right to freedom, which means the right to consciously choose. That is a right that is given, but it is our choice to take that right and exercise it now, today.

The freedom of choice is the cornerstone of happiness. We can exert our right to choose and our right to be and do what we want. We can decide to reinvent ourselves mentally, physically, financially, socially, and spiritually. A biker has the freedom to be a banker. A banker has the freedom to be a bouncer. A bouncer has the freedom to become a ballet dancer. A ballet dancer has the freedom to become a bowler. Aren't freedom and the ability to have freedom beautiful? - 31521
